Welcome to RAF Benson

RAF Benson is a front line support helicopter base working within the Joint Helicopter Command. Located in South Oxfordshire, we have many facilities for Service Personnel and dependants alike.

Committed to operations and supporting operations throughout the world since the Station opened in 1939, RAF Benson is currently home to the Puma Force and 28 Squadron, the Support Helicopter Operational Conversion Unit. 845 Naval Air Squadron, who operate the Merlin helicopter as part of the Commando Helicopter Force, also reside at RAF Benson, as do a number of other lodger units including No 6 Air Experience Flight, the Oxford University Air Squadron, the Thames Valley Air Ambulance and the National Police Air Service (South East).

Whilst geographically a small Station compared to many others, RAF Benson continues to be one of the busiest Stations in the RAF, with personnel deploying regularly in support of current operations.
