Who is based here?

RAF Benson currently has about 2000 Service personnel and Civil Servants working on base, with approximately the same number of dependants and civilian staff.

Organisation

RAF Benson has four Wings: Base Support Wing, Engineering and Logistics Wing, R and S Wing and Operations Wing.

There are four helicopter Squadrons: 28 (AC) Squadron, 33 Squadron, 78 Squadron and 230 Squadron.

Lodger Units

RAF Benson is home to numerous lodger units which include the Medium Support Helicopter Aircrew Training Facility (MSHATF), the Meteorological Unit, Chiltern Air Support Unit (Police helicopter), Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, the Support Helicopter Engineering Development and Investigation Team (SHEDIT), Oxford University Air Squadron and 6 Air Experience Flight.
