From my perspective

WO Lane

WO Geoff Lane:

Age: 52
Trade: CIS Manager
Job Description: Manager
Length of service: 34 years

I have been at RAF Odiham for over 6 years and work in C4I Spt Flt*. My job is wide and varied and in the management pecking order, I am second in command to my Flt Lt who is in overall charge of our flight. Together we manage 4 separate areas. The Communications Centre, The IT Centre, the Photographic Section and the staff who manage the Airfield navigational aids. With over 50 staff and many many ongoing projects that require us to install extra equipment or support this change or that change, we are kept very busy. No two days are alike.

During my time here, I have been detached to the Gulf for 4 months and seen many changes at the station.  Through the Royal Air Force, I have also managed to continue my love of Windsurfing and in the last two years, I have taken up Offshore Sailing with the Joint Services Adventurous Sail Training Centre.  Time off for these sort of things is always difficult but with careful planning and a bit of give and take with other key members of staff we seem to manage" WO Lane
