Old Riggers

Ex-RAF Aerial Erectors Association

Eddie Edwards founded the Ex-RAF Aerial Erectors Association as a result of my trying to trace his old service friends. He had served as a rigger for 12 years having joined the RAF in 1956.

Ex riggers In 1996 he decided to try and renew old acquaintances and put an advert on the "Service Pals" page of Teletext. He received only 4 replies from riggers, but they knew the whereabouts of several other riggers and so the list steadily grew. He put further adverts on the Teletext and in the RAF Newspaper, "The Airmail" (RAFA) and the British Legion magazine. The Association now has a regular advertisement on the Teletext "Service Associations" (Channel 4) page 153 that is displayed every 7 weeks.

There are now over 400 riggers in the Association and numbers are still growing. There's a three monthly newsletter, ‘The Update' and a reunion is organised every other year. If you are an existing or past RAF Aerial Erector and not a Member of the Association, then why not contact Eddie now by visiting the web site via the link.

Membership is FREE and who knows, you may find some of your old mates there.
