Cadet Delanshe Edwards was the 5000th cadet to take to the skies at 6 AEF at RAF Benson this year, and was congratulated by Air Vice-Marshal Andy Turner.
After joining cadets in September, this was the 16-year-olds first Air Experience Flight and had no idea it would be so memorable.
Cadet Edwards said: It was a great new experience; although I felt sick I expected it even though we didn’t do any acrobatics.
It has definitely prepared me for the next time I get a chance to fly again!”
The flight took place in the Grob Tutor, piloted by Flight Lieutenant Alan Page, who has a huge 26 years experience as an AEF pilot.
To witness the occasion AOC 22 Group, Air Vice-Marshall Andy Turner, an experienced RAF pilot who regularly donates his spare time to offer air experience flights to cadets, said: “It is fabulous to see 6 AEF at Benson flying the 5000th cadet this year and introducing so many great young people to aviation technology and engineering in this way.
“It is great to see the RAF contributing so much to the local community, whose support we greatly appreciate.”
