Message from the Comdt - RIAT 2010
The following is a message from Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Barbara Cooper on this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo, held at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire:
“I really enjoyed attending RIAT this year, not least because it gave me the opportunity to meet a few more of you and to see first hand how important your role is, in ensuring the success of the event.
“I particularly enjoyed seeing some of you in the ACE platforms and one of the heats for ‘Air Cadet Cookpit Competition’. On Friday evening I attended the RIAT dinner and so many people from a variety of countries were complementary about the Guard of Honour, formed by cadets from a variety of squadrons. The band was OUTSTANDING and most people believed it was one of the RAF's Regular bands, until Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) gave us a big plug during his after-dinner speech.
“During the annual prize-giving that takes place at the end of the dinner, it was with great pride that I accepted, on all of your behalves, 'The Volunteer Reserve Forces' Poignard', in recognition of the ACO's ongoing major contribution to RIAT.
“Well done and thank you to everyone involved in supporting RIAT."
