Nigel Lamb - Red Bull Air Race Pilot Competition
Topic: News Region: Central & East

Do you fancy yourself as a bit of an adrenaline junkie? Is your idea of fun a flight in an unlimited performance aircraft with one of Britain’s leading aerobatic pilots?
If so then Air Cadet website has the perfect competition for you!
Main Competition
Popular Red Bull Air Race pilot Nigel Lamb is offering one lucky air cadet the chance to accompany him for a flight in his high-performance MXS-R aircraft. You will experience the roar of acceleration, skillful twists and dynamic turns as well as the G force that Nigel often feels during the famous Red Bull Air races. To see for yourself just check out the brand new video of Nigel on the Air Cadet video reel which can be found on the homepage.
The flight will take place at Wycombe Air Park, High Wycombe. A scheduled date of Wednesday 14th October has so far been agreed but this is weather permitting.

The prize doesn’t just include flying with Nigel, as you will also get the chance to spend time with the man himself back on terra firma, meet his team and discuss the current season. You will also be able to pick his brains about tactics as he plans his push for glory next season.
You must be between 16-20 years old to enter this competition but
Nigel and his team have also been kind enough to offer an alternative prize for younger air cadets…
Competition for 13-15 year olds
If you are between 13-15 years old then you can win a meet and greet with Nigel and his team of professionals and have pictures taken in the MXS-R aircraft. Not only that but you can also bring a friend along to join in the fun!

You will spend time with Nigel himself, ask him questions about what it’s like to be a daredevil pilot and get closer to the fantastic plane that Nigel plans to fly to win the prestigious Red Bull Air Race next year.
Due to age restrictions there will be no flight included in the prize for 13-15 year old cadet. But the winning cadet will receive a baseball cap and signed photo of Nigel.
So how do you win these fantastic prizes?
Nigel Lamb and his team are currently looking for a new ‘good luck’ emblem to use in the 2010 Red Bull Air Race Series. To be in with a shout of winning one of these amazing opportunities you must design your interpretation of a ‘good luck’ emblem – either by hand or on a computer – and we will run the best past Nigel himself. The design that he chooses will be made into a sticker and inserted into the MXS-R as a good-luck charm for next season!
There will be two categories:
- One for cadets aged 16-20.
- One for cadets aged 13-15.
Only the overall winner of the two categories will have their designed emblem created for the 2010 Red Bull Air Race Series. Your design is your interpretation so it could be anything from a drawing of Nigel in the MXS-R aircraft to a ‘good luck’ message that relates to the aviation within the Air Cadet Organisation.
Your emblem can incorporate whatever you would like but you may want to consider:
The emblem will be resized to 5cm x 5cm, colours may be simplified and Nigel races with the number '9' and the nationality 'GB' is included on his current kit (but these do not have to be included).
Speaking about this fantastic competition Nigel Lamb said: “I am often approached by young enthusiasts at the races or events we attend, but it is air cadets who continually show such a strong interest in aviation and the team itself. Therefore we decided that it would be fantastic to give something back to the Air Cadet Organisation.”
To enter this competition simply create your emblem and send it by either post or e-mail. Don’t forget to include the details that are listed below:
- To enter by post simply send your emblem design either on disc or printed on paper along with details including name, address, date of birth, squadron name/number and home phone number.
