Qualifications you need: 3 GCSEs/Standards at Grade C/3 minimum or equivalent in English Language, Maths and an approved Science/Technology subject
Qualifications you can gain: City & Guilds Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering Level 3; Advanced Apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering
Engines, gearboxes, cockpit controls, landing gears, air conditioning, anti-icing, fuel systems. The list goes on.
There are simply thousands of mechanical components that are vital to the efficient running of RAF aircraft. Mechanical Aircraft Technicians are responsible for examining, testing and repairing these aircraft parts – from complicated control systems to hydraulics – as well as carrying out critical engine and propulsion checks on everything from fast jets to helicopters.
