Qualifications you can gain: Apprenticeship in Information Technology, NVQ in Controlling Airport Operations (Levels 3 and 4)

Got a cool head and a clear voice? Good at working under pressure and as part of a team? Then the RAF wants you as a Flight Operations Assistant.

From the ‘Ops room’ of your station’s Air Traffic Control Tower, you’ll use the latest technology to update aeronautical data, provide information for mission and flight planning and assist Air Traffic Controllers.

You’ll even get the chance to rise through the ranks, reaching a position where you’ll transfer your skills to Search and Rescue missions or overseas operations.
