The Regiment offers a career that’s literally like nothing in the civilian world.
Infantry tactics, weapons systems, surveillance equipment. Peacekeeping missions, counter-terrorism, aircraft and base protection, full-scale war. RAF Regiment Officers are specialists in all this and more.
Think you’re up to the task? Then why not look into taking a Potential Regiment Officers Acquaintance Course (PROAC) – a physically and mentally demanding three-day course, designed to find out if you’re the right calibre to lead the RAF’s ground troops.
Made an impression during the PROAC? Aced the fitness, teamwork and logic tests? Then you could then move on to a Junior Regiment Officers’ Course (JROC) – where potential Officers learn the field skills and tactical knowledge they need to command a flight of Gunners in a combat situation.
If you make it this far – you must have put a lot of hard work in, and deserve the exciting career that awaits you. Regiment Officers travel the world leading Gunners in a wide variety of operations, including patrolling airfields, deterring, locating and destroying the enemy; parachuting into hostile environments to secure airfields for RAF or allied forces use; even planning missions and leading a small team to recover downed aircrew or other key personnel.
