Altitude membership: Terms and Conditions
One Altitude Welcome Pack per person will be distributed upon completion of the membership form. This is available to individuals aged 13 to 18 in full time education. If you are between the age of 13 and 14, you must get your parent or guardian's permission to register your details by completing the parental consent form on the site and we will contact you on when your application has been granted to join Altitude. If you are under the age of 13, you can still enter you details on the site and Altitude will contact you on or around your 13th birthday with confirmation that you are now eligible to join.
Candidates can apply to join the RAF if they are aged 15 years 9 months and 1 day.
When you first join Altitude, you will receive an email confirming your membership details. This will be the only email you receive, unless you opt in to receiving emails from us during registration. If you don’t opt in now, you can always change your mind and opt in at a later date to receive emails and other communications from us by going into change preferences once logged in on the site.
You will only be contacted by mail, SMS or telephone if you opt in to these communications on your profile. You can update your profile at any time if you no longer or want to start receiving Altitude communications.
Altitude reserves the right to contact you despite your opt in status if there are changes which will affect your membership or if you have entered a competition and need to be notified of a prize.
Your personal details
The personal information (such as name and address) that you submit to this website will only be used for the purposes outlined at the time of collection or registration, and we will not pass this information to any third party. This complies with the Data Protection Act 1998.
If you are between the age of 13 and 14, you must get your parent or guardian's permission to register your details by completing the parental consent form on the site and we will contact you on when your application has been granted to join Altitude.
If you check the box agreeing to us sending you related RAF information and RAF events details, we will use your personal details for this purpose alone and will not pass those details to any third party.
If you want to change the details you have given us on the registration form you can update your profile online.
Any transfer of your data between mailing houses is transferred using PGP encryption or a secure courier. Your data however will not be transferred abroad.
Altitude recommends that children between the ages of 13 and 16 should not send any information about themselves over the Internet without asking their parents or legal guardians for permission beforehand.
Altitude may post customer testimonials on the website which may contain personally information such as your name. Altitude obtains your prior consent to post your name along with your testimonial.
If you decide to leave Altitude your data will be removed from our database within 30 days. If you think that the data we hold on you is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us by telephone, 0845 606 8068, or email us feedback@rafaltitude.org.uk, with the details. If the matter is not resolved informally, you can make a subject access request. This is a formal procedure where Altitude will provide details of all the information we hold on you. There is a fee of £10. To make a subject access request please write to us at Altitude, 103 Temple Street, Bristol, BS1 6EN with a cheque for £10 and we will respond in full within 40 days with all the data we have. If there are any inaccuracies in the data you can ask us to correct it.
October Competition

To enter, please email your aircraft design to feedback@rafaltitude.org.uk or post entries to Altitude Aircraft Competition, C/O TMW, 81 Kings Road, London, SW3 4NX. Please include your name and membership number as part of your entry.
The RAF claim no responsibility for lost, damaged or incomplete entries. Proof of posting is not proof of delivery.
The closing date for entries is 30th November 2009.
The two winners will be selected by an independent judging panel on 7th December 2009 and shall be notified in writing within 14 days of such date. Both winners will receive the following prize: A Nike sports bag filled with RAF merchandise.
The judges' decision on all matters relating to the winning design is final.
The prize is non-refundable and non-transferable. No cash alternative is available.
If your aircraft design wins the competition, you agree that your submission of that design constitutes an assignation to Altitude of all rights to that design. Altitude will own exclusively all rights and shall not be limited in any way in its use, for commercial or other purposes. The winning design shall become and remain Altitude property.
The winner may be required to take part in future publicity.
The name of the winners will be made available after 10th December 2009 to those enclosing a self addressed envelope and applying to Altitude Aircraft Competition, C/O TMW, 81 Kings Road, London, SW3 4NX.

November Competition
Red Arrows Competition
The competition is open to members of the Altitude programme only. Please see above section for terms and conditions of Altitude membership.

The winner will be selected by an independent judging panel on 7th January 2010 and shall be notified in writing within 2 days of such date. The winner will receive the following prize: A trip to RAF Scampton to interview Squadron Leader Ben Murphy. The interview will take place in January, the exact date is to be confirmed. The winner must make their own way to the RAF base and if under 16 must be accompanied by one parent or guardian only. The winner must supply the interview questions in advance to the Altitude team.
The winner will be required to write a report of their day and submit to Altitude.
The judges' decision on all matters relating to the winning entry is final.

RAF Altitude Welcome Pack - Altitude iPod Competition
The following terms and conditions will apply for the Welcome Pack Altitude iPod free prize draw.
The prize draw is open to residents of Great Britain only.
The prize draw is only open to Altitude members.
Only one prize available per month, an iPod nano and an Altitude branded iPod sock
To enter, members must reveal a hidden code on their Welcome Pack card and email the answer to Altitude at feedback@rafaltitude.org.uk
The winner will be randomly selected from all the entrants by a computer on a monthly basis.
The draw will take place on the 25th of every month starting in June 2009. If the 25th falls on a weekend or Bank Holiday the next Monday will be the draw date.
The submission deadline will be 23.59 on the 23rd of every month. Members who email their response for the prize draw after this date will be automatically entered into the next month’s draw.
The last monthly prize draw will take place on the 25th November 2009 and the competition will close on the 23rd November at 23.59. Any emails received after 23.59 on the 23rd November 2009 will not be entered into the competition at all.
The monthly prize draw will include all members who emailed the correct answer to Altitude within the last month.
Members can only enter the competition once and therefore are only eligible to win the prize once.
The promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value in the event that the prize becomes unavailable.
There will be no cash alternative to the prize available.
The independent adjudicator reserves the right to disqualify any member based on any entries which are deemed to be fraudulent data.
No responsibility is accepted for ineligible or fraudulent entries.
The RAF will accept no liability for the safe delivery of the prize other than arranging suitable packaging and insurance cover to the value of the prize.
The prize is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Once the winner’s address has been confirmed, the prize will be sent to the winner by the 15th of every month following the draw.
The promoter reserves the right to contact the winner by telephone no matter of their opt in status to ensure the prize is sent to the correct individual.
The winner may be required to take part in future publicity.
The name of the winner will be made available after 15th of every month following the draw to those enclosing a self addressed envelope and applying to Altitude iPod Free Prize Draw results, 81 King’s Road, London, SW3 4NX.
If any clause in these terms is deemed illegal, invalid or unenforceable, it shall be struck from the contract and all remaining clauses will remain in full force and effect.

Send to a friend
If you decide to send an article to a friend or invite a friend to join Altitude, Altitude will ask for your friends’ email and name. Altitude will send a one-time email and will not keep that person’s data or use it for any other purpose. We will advise your friend where we acquired their email address.

Tracking the effectiveness of the site
On this website we use Sitestat, a Nedstat product, to measure and analyse information about visits to our website. We use your IP address to collect, among other things, internet traffic data and data regarding your browser type and computer.
In addition, we use cookies. A cookie is a small file stored on your computer when you visit a website. If you visit the site again, the cookie enables the site to recognise the repeat visit.
