Master Aircrew Bob Carter MBE
Joined the RAF in 1975 as an Air Photographic Operator serving at JARIC (UK) at RAF Brampton. Following his engineer training in 1980 he was posted to LXX Sqn at RAF Lyneham, operating on C-130K Hercules in both the strategic and tactical role. After his first tour he was posted to RAF Finningley instructing ab initio air engineering tudents on the Dominie before being posted back to RAF Lyneham for a short period before a tour on JATE at RAF Brize Norton, flying the C-130K trials aircraft. Since 1991 he has specialised in the Special Forces fole operating the C-130K worldwide in all major conflicts since that date. He has also spent 4 years instructing on the Sqn accumulating more than 10,000 hours on the C-130 operating in a variety of theatres including the Balkans, Sierra Leone, Iraq and Afghanistan. Widowed with 2 grown up children he spends much of his spare time renovating his house in Worcester and is a keen gardener. An enthusiast of military history he joins BBMF for his first season.
Master Aircrew Jeff Morris
Joined the RAF in 1976 as an Aircraft Electrical Technician. After initial trade training he carried out tours as ground crew at: RAF Shawbury working on Whirlwinds, Wessex and Gazelle helicopters, RAF Lossiemouth on Jaguars and Buccaneers and at RAF Gutersloh working on 230 Squadron Pumas. Selected for Air Engineer training in 1985 he was subsequently posted to RAF Lyneham in 1986. During a 16 year period on the C130 Hercules he has completed operational and instructional tours on: LXX Squadron, 47 Squadron and 242 OCU / 57(R) Squadron. Posted to the E-3D in 2002 he has completed 6 years on 8 Squadron, including time as the Air Engineer Leader and is taking up the post as Waddington Staneval Air Engineer. This is Jeff’s second season with the BBMF Flight Engineers.
Master Aircrew Brendan O’Sullivan
Joined the RAF in 1981 as an RAF Halton Airframes and Propulsion Apprentice, followed by ground crew duties on Victor and Canberra aircraft. Following Air Engineer training in 1989 he has completed operational and instructional duties on LXX Sqn on C-130 Hercules, 10 Sqn on VC10's, 23 Sqn on Sentry AEW Mk1 and at the Air Engineer training school at RAF Cranwell. On completion of the Aero-systems course, he has returned to E-3D instructional duties on 54(R) Squadron as the Air Engineer Leader prior to his current Station Flight Safety Officer role. In his second season as the BBMF Flight Engineer Leader, his spare time is spent as a Group Scout Leader and with his 3 sons swelling the numbers following Peterborough United.
Flight Sergeant Dave Mort
Joined the RAF in 1981 having served an engineering apprenticeship with BOAC and then British Airways. Following Air Engineer training at RAF Finningley, he was posted to LXX Squadron at Lyneham, operating on C-130K Hercules in both strategic and tactical operations which included the South Atlantic Air Bridge, and Ethiopia famine relief. A number of Hercules and VC10 postings followed tours as an Air Engineer on Dominies and NATO B707 Trainer/Cargo aircraft . He is currently an instructor on LXX Sqn at Lyneham and has operated in a variety of theatres including former Yugoslavia, Iraq and Afghanistan. He starts his third season with BBMF with over 8500 flying hours. Dave is a keen lifelong motorcyclist and a frequent visitor to the Isle of Man TT races. He is an active member of his local Royal British Legion branch and other interests include motor caravanning, genealogy, steam railways and inevitably all other aspects of aviation.
