RAF Regiment Officers are leaders, in charge of a flight of around 30 men to protect the RAF´s aircraft, people and bases around the world.

Following your training as a specialist in infantry tactics, weapon systems and surveillance equipment, you´ll be taught to operate in peacekeeping and counter terrorist situations, as well as full-scale war fighting.

And you´ll learn to rapidly evaluate tactical situations, formulate a plan and then brief this to your troops, no matter what the pressure.

As an RAF Regiment Gunner, you´ll be part of a specialist infantry unit, trained and equipped to defend the RAF´s aircraft, people and bases. Your specialist training will cover infantry tactics and weapons, including pistols, rifles and light machine guns, mortars, anti-tank missiles and heavy machine guns.

The RAF Regiment needs to operate 24 hours a day in any weather, so you´ll become skilled in the use of the latest night-vision aids and other surveillance equipment.

There will also be opportunities for selected Gunners to specialise as snipers, experts in marksmanship and camouflage, or join parachute-capable units, such as 2 Squadron.
