Mobile internet service
How do I check if I can access the internet on my mobile?
If you got a new mobile in the last year or two, it is very likely that it can be used to access the internet. The personal trainer uses simple, text-only pages, so that any phone with internet access should be able to see the information.
Most network operators have set up their mobile phones so that they are ready to use as soon as you have bought them and no further set-up is necessary.
The easiest way to check if your mobile phone can access the internet is to look at your phone’s menu or manual. If they contain references to ‘web’, ‘internet’, ‘browser’ or ‘WAP’ (wireless application protocol), you should be OK. If you’re in doubt, give your mobile phone provider a call and they’ll be able to tell you.
How much will the mobile internet service cost?
We provide the exercise information for free, but charges may be imposed by your network operator, so you should confirm this with them.
Operators may charge for time spent browsing or amount of data downloaded. If, for instance, an operator charges £2 per MB of data downloaded, it should cost less than 1p to check several days’ exercise details. Consult your operator to find out their specific charges.
How do I access the personal trainer on my mobile internet?
You’re given a personalised web address/URL when you select both a fitness programme and a start date. That way we know what exercise to show you on what day.
Follow the steps below to manually enter this URL on your mobile:
1. Access your phone’s browser.
To do this, go to your phone’s menu and select the browser. For example:
- for Nokia phones this is usually in the menu under ‘Services’ or ‘Web’;
- for Motorola phones this is usually called something like ‘Web access’;
- on Sony Ericsson phones this is usually called ‘Internet Services’.
2. Type in the URL we give you.
Once you are in the browser area of your phone, select ‘options’ or ‘more’, and then look for a command such as:
- ‘Address Bar’ or ‘Enter address’ or ‘Enter URL’;
- ‘Go to URL’ or ‘Enter URL’.
- Key in the URL and click ‘OK’ or ‘Enter’.
Once you have done this, it should launch the personal trainer on your phone.
How do I create a bookmark on my mobile phone?
Bookmarking saves your favourite sites so that you can find them again later. While you’re using the personal trainer on your phone you can do this by selecting the ‘Bookmark’, ‘Add bookmark’, ‘Shortcut’ or ‘Favourites’ option from your phone’s menu.
In future, simply select the personal trainer link from your ‘Bookmarks’/‘Favourites’ menu to go straight to it.
You may be able to access your phone’s browser history when you wish to revisit the personal trainer and simply click ‘OK’, ‘Go To’ or ‘Enter’ when you move the cursor over the URL you typed in previously.
If you need further help with bookmarking, please consult your mobile’s user manual.
Having trouble?
Try ringing your mobile provider for help, as they might need to send you a message with some extra details to enable internet access on your phone.
