Joining age
Every job in the RAF has a minimum and maximum age limit. These are given in each of the job files on this website.
They describe the age you need to be on your first day of training – not when you first apply. It can take several months to complete the process of joining the RAF.
The youngest you can join as an airman or airwoman is 16 years. The youngest you can join as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned aircrew or non-commissioned air traffic controller is 17 years and 6 months. All careers also have an upper age limit which varies from job to job.
If you are too young to join us right now, take a look at the Altitude website which is especially for 13 to 18-year-olds who are interested in an RAF career.
