The job
As an RAF Police Officer, you will be responsible for leading and managing teams of RAF Police in the UK and overseas. You will also advise commanders on the threats to the RAF from terrorism, espionage and crime, amongst other things. You will recommend and implement appropriate countermeasures to protect personnel and other critical assets. You will manage criminal and security investigations and work closely with the civil police and other agencies.
Junior officers are expected to work with minimal supervision and display a high level of integrity. In view of the demanding nature of their duties, RAF Police Officers also need to be self-reliant and have strong leadership skills. Junior officers can expect to serve on deployed operations overseas or at main bases. They can also be employed within the RAF Special Investigations Branch (which conducts criminal investigations), or on counter-intelligence duties (undertaking counter-intelligence and security related inquiries), or undertake staff duties at Headquarters Air Command in Buckinghamshire.
