Trained professionals
The RAF has a need to recruit trained professionals, including doctors, dentists, lawyers and chaplains. You don’t need previous military experience, just the determination and ability to succeed when the heat is on.
We know you’re in demand, so we offer a pretty impressive career package with some exclusive benefits. As well as competitive pay and world-class training, you’ll also get six weeks’ paid holiday a year, subsidised food and accommodation, free healthcare, and free access to our sports facilities.
Reverend (Flight Lieutenant) Kevin Capelin-Jones
Chaplain
‘People in the RAF really want to get the best out of themselves, and I think it’s helping me get the best out of myself as well.’
As part of a fighting force you’ll be taught the leadership skills our officers use in the field. We’ll challenge you to discover what kind of leader you are – then train you to be an even better one. Once you’ve been accepted for entry, you’ll spend 11 weeks at the RAF College Cranwell completing initial officer training.
You’ll be part of an extended family, a worldwide force where the camaraderie and team spirit are second to none. You could be called on to perform specialist duties anywhere in the world, like evacuating injured troops from the front line or advising our senior officers of the local legal procedures when overseas.
Flight Lieutenant Deborah Easby
Medical Officer
‘My first medical evacuation was a real challenge. We flew injured servicemen from Iraq to the UK in a C-17 aircraft. I managed an intensive care patient and proved to myself that I was good enough to do the job.’
