The job

In a Tornado fast jet, your primary role will be to manage the weapons in air-to-air combat or during a ground attack mission. In a multi-engine maritime reconnaissance Nimrod, you’ll track submarines or enemy ships, provide long-range Search and Rescue and operate overland in support of combat operations. In a multi-engine VC10 refuelling aircraft, you’ll control the positioning of vital refuelling systems for combat aircraft over hostile territory. Or you could fulfil a tactical navigation role in our Hercules, Nimrod or E-3D Sentry aircraft.

Training

After your initial training, your skills and the RAF’s requirements will decide which kind of aircraft you’ll fly in. Following more advanced flying training, you’ll then start work on fast-jet or multi-engine aircraft, and train for your first tour of productive duty.
