Biography - Ruth Hake
Rev (Sqn Ldr) Ruth Hake MA (Cantab) BA (Hons) RAF
Ruth Hake was born in 1978, and grew up in various Yorkshire vicarages. After reading for a History degree at Durham University, she commenced her training for Ordained ministry at Ridley Hall in Cambridge. After being ordained in 2002, she served her curacy at St Michael le Belfrey in York, where she was also a Territorial Army Chaplain for two years.
She joined the Royal Air Force in 2005, and after completing her SERE course at RAFC Cranwell, she was posted to RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire. Following short detachments to the Falkland Islands, and RAF Kinloss, she deployed to Afghanistan in 2007. On her return she was posted to RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, where she remained until March 2010.
She is currently the Force Chaplain for British Forces, South Atlantic Islands, based in the Falkland Islands.
Ruth is married to Bryan, an engineering officer in the Royal Air Force, and they have a one year old son, Archie and a Black Labrador, Calvin. Ruth enjoys playing the flute, swimming, reading, hill walking, and whilst in the Falklands, the many opportunities offered to observe penguins!
