Information about RAF Linton-On-Ouse

RAF Linton-on-Ouse is home to No. 1 Flying Training School and is one of the busiest airfields in the country. There are currently four Flying Squadrons at RAF Linton-on-Ouse: 72(Reserve) Squadron, 207(Reserve) Squadron, Central Flying School (Tucano) and 76(Reserve) Squadron. The Station’s role is to train future fast jet pilots for the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, and Weapons Systems Officers for the Royal Air Force. The Station operates the Tucano T1.

Linton-on-Ouse is located 10 miles east of the A1, 5 miles west from the A19 (York road), and 6 miles northeast from the A59 (Harrogate road). Linton-on-Ouse is close to popular tourist spots such as York, where you can visit world-class museums, historic buildings and art galleries. There are quaint pubs, chic café bars and restaurants to relax and take in the atmosphere of an attractive, vibrant, modern city in the shadow of the beautiful ancient York Minster. The city also has cinemas, theatres and nightclubs for endless entertainment. Thirsk, Ripon and Harrogate are a short journey from Linton and each holds a charm of its own. A little further a-field, but still within an easy travelling time are: Leeds, Sheffield's Meadow Hall, Manchester or The Metro Centre Gateshead – all great for shopping trips or fun days out with the family.
