The Role of the RAF Community Relations Officer in Wales

The RAF Community Relations Office (CRO for Wales is located in Brecon and provides the focal point for enquiries to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the three armed Services on flying matters in the region.

Amongst other subjects, the office handles flying complaints, requests for Service participation at Shows, Air Displays, public and community relations enquiries and requests for help. We also deal with requests for low flying talks. If you feel your community will benefit from a talk on low flying activity in Wales please contact us and date/times/venues can be arranged. The CRO has now taken over the administration for the Air Officer for Wales. Any requests for the Air Officer should be made using our contact details.

There is no limit to the type of call that might be handled by the CRO. An important aspect of the CRO Office is to keep the public informed on major aerial activity over Wales and because the RAF is the lead Service for flying matter the Brecon Office will usually assist with enquiries about the Army and Royal Navy Aviation too.

The CRO is an important link between the MOD, the RAF and Civic and Public Bodies in Wales and the Marches.

The office may be called upon to liase with Government agencies or Non-Government Bodies, including farming organisations, on any aspect of military flying including low-flying training.

The CRO is probably the best first-point-of-contact for information about the MOD or the RAF. For up-to-date information on low-flying activity and exercises and displays please visit The RAF in Wales tab and Excercise and Ops
