About us

East of Scotland Universities Air Squadron (ESUAS) was established in 2003 as an amalgamation of "East Lowlands Universities Air Squadron" and "Aberdeen, Dundee and St. Andrew's Universities Air Squadron". We are based at Royal Air Force Leuchars, in Fife and fly a fleet of six Grob Tutors, although this is only the beginning of what the squadron does. Our role is to provide flying training to all our members, as well as leadership training, personal development, and much more.

ESUAS compromises of 20 staff members (including flying instructors, ground training instructors, engineers and administrative staff) and approximately 90 university students.

Members of the squadron participate in many activities in addition to flying, including adventure training expeditions, sport, charity and volunteer work and social events. The social events include the squadron’s Christmas Draw, Burns Supper, Annual Dinner and May Ball alongside those of RAF Leuchars itself.

We currently recruit from 9 universities in Scotland, and are open to membership from students studying at Aberdeen, Dundee, St Andrews and Edinburgh-based universities.
