Future Requirements
Several major procurement programmes are currently underway for future RAF requirements. The current RAF fleet of Nimrod MR2s is due to undergo a major refurbishment programme during the next decade, and these aircraft will be known as Nimrod MRA4s and RAF VC10 and Tristar tanker/transports are also due for replacement later in the decade. Finally, the Harriers will be replaced with the new Joint Strike Fighter currently undergoing development in America.
