Old Trafford 2009

Show Report by Sgt Martin Peace

The RAF Falcons were delighted to be asked to perform at the 1st T20 International between England and Austrialia at Old Trafford in Manchester. The Team would be utilising the Chinook aircraft from RAF Odiham. We boarded our aircraft at Brize Norton and settled down for the 90 min flight to Manchester. On approach to the drop zone the Team got a chance to fly over Manchester's famous landmarks until finally reaching Old Trafford and its packed crowd. After final briefs and all safety checks were complete we exited the Chinook at 2500 ft. Quickly building our world famous non contact canopy stack and under the guidence of Team coach Toby Goodchild the Team expertly landed into the arena. The 15000 strong crowd gave the Team a rapturous applause and the flypast from the Chinook topped off a fantastic demonstration. The Team would like to thank the ECB for inviting us to perform and 18 Sqn RAF Odiham for the use of thier aircraft.
