Sunderland Air Show 2009

The RAF Falcons were delighted to display into the Sunderland Air Show over the weekend of the 25 and 26 Jul 2009.Saturday's display was conducted in beautiful sunny weather and a massive crowd of around 250,000 people. The Team utilised the Chinook helicopter from RAF Odiham and boarded the aircraft at Newcastle Airport.Once aboard the Team coach gave the signal to pull smokes and at 5000 ft the Falcons began their display.The Team quickly and expertly built their world famous non contact canopy stack and skillfully made there way into the drop zone located on the Roker waterfront. The Team arrived onto the beach to rapturous applause from the massive crowd. The salute was taken by the local Mayor who was more than happy to meet the all of the Team. Sundays display started with uncertainty about whether the demonstration would go ahead at all but after further review into the weather conditions the display took place all be it from 2500ft. An equally huge crowd gasped at another excellent display from the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team a and sucessful end to the weekend.
