24hr Challenge Report
Show Report by Sgt Matt Allen
On 15th May the RAF Falcons started the day by performing a display into Marshside, Kent for the start of the 24hr challenge.
Jumping from the Islander aircraft from Headcorn Parachute Centre the Team performed a mid show from an altitude of 6000ft. The Team wowed the crowd with a great display and superb accuracy landing on the two crosses in the centre of the Drop Zone. The Team then changed there parachutes for trainers and made there way to the start line. The Team took on the Challenge to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund and Headway Oxford and covered a combined distance of 550 miles. The Team would like to thank Mike Inkster and his team for their hospitality throughout the weekend and Langar for the use of their aircraft.
Nicola James, Head of Regional Fundraising for the RAF Benevolent Fund (RAFBF), said:
“On behalf of the RAFBF I would like to say an enormous thank-you to the RAF Falcons for their amazing fundraising efforts over the weekend in the 24 hour challenge and say how privileged we are to be their chosen charity for 2010. As a world-leading parachute display team their support is invaluable in raising awareness of our role as the RAF’s leading welfare charity, providing support to serving and former members of the RAF and their families.”
