The Mohne dam after the attack. In the valley below: Several power plants destroyed or shut down, 12 factories destroyed and 92 damaged, 25 bridges destroyed and 8 damaged.

Thousands of workers will be withdrawn from creating Germany’s Atlantic defences to carry out rebuilding.

Operation Chastise a huge boost to Britain’s morale and political reputation.
