1989
Newly elected Argentine President Carlos Menem agrees to talk under "sovereignty umbrella".
1990
Full diplomatic relations restored.
1985
Joint agreement on oil exploration.
1998
President Menem visits London, and Prince Charles visits Buenos Aires and the Falklands.
1999
First Argentine tourists allowed into the Falklands.
October- First direct flight from Argentina to the Falklands since the war. Margaret Thatcher confirms Chilean support in 1982.
