Pedal Bus Challenge

Charity

The members of Liverpool UAS have always organised and donated to charity as it is a major part of military ethos. The squadron usually has a few members dedicated to the organisation for events throughout the year, with some of our most successful years donating more than £5000 to various charities.

This year has been no exception with funds raised from events such as members zip-lining from the top of the Royal Liverpool Hospital in order to raise £1000 for an oxygen monitoring machine. Three members are currently cycling nearly 500 miles from Blackpool Tower to the Eiffel Tower with the view to raise £1500 for Help for Heroes. Visit Just Giving to donate for this fantastic cause.

Ongoing projects include helping out the local communities, mainly with underpriviledged childrens’ camps and schools. Also, the Chernobyl Childrens’ Project visits RAF Woodvale yearly to take part in various activities arranged by the students.

Previous years have included some major events such as the Pedal Bus Challenge in June 2009, where all of the members of Liverpool UAS jumped on board a 4 ton pedal bus to travel around the perimeter tracks at RAF Woodvale. More details can be found here.

The two charities the Air Squadron has decided to support from October 2010 onwards are the ‘Sefton Children’s Trust’ and the “RAF Benevolent Fund’.
