Tutor Formation

Flying

Flying is one of the main reasons why the University Air Squadrons exist. Each student has the opportunity to use 10 hours of flying training per year, often with the opportunity of more should the student show enough determination and potential.

The UAS syllabus is designed to be very similar to the current RAF Elementary Flying Training (EFT) syllabus,so those students progressing onto joining the RAF will be able to use their flying experience as a good basis for development. The syllabus covers the basics of flying, the theory required, and leads onto solo flight. Once the main syllabus has been completed, there is an advanced course which includes formation, aerobatics and low-level flight.

Each UAS has a number of Grob Tutor aircraft, and it’s own dedicated RAF qualified flying instructors. Liverpool UAS shares 10 aircraft between ourselves, Manchester and Salford UAS, and 10 Air Experience Flight, all based at RAF Woodvale.
