The event, now in its third year, recognises organisations for commitment in developing their people through the use of apprenticeships and supporting their employees during training. This year’s awards took place at the Emirates Stadium in London, the home of Arsenal FC, alongside the Apprenticeships4England Conference.
A4E is an advisory and consultancy organisation which offers commercial support and training to Employers and Training Providers in the delivery of apprenticeships in England. It also runs a series of open training events and a major annual conference, which ran on the days either side of the Award Ceremony. A4E is a major force within apprenticeships, seeing itself as projecting the 'Voice of Apprenticeships' in partnership with apprenticeship practitioners and deliverers.
The award was collected by Air Cdre Chris Elliot (RAF Director Ground Training) and two RAF Apprentices; SAC Stephen Potter of No1 Sqn RAF Regt and LAC Paige Wardle of the WO & SNCOs’ Mess, RAF Wittering, both of whom were excellent ambassadors for the Armed Forces.
The RAF offers an apprenticeship to the vast majority of its airmen recruits, ranging across 19 different frameworks at 14 training schools. Currently there are over 2500 apprentices on programme. In January 2015, Ofsted awarded the RAF Apprenticeships scheme the grade of ‘Outstanding.’
