On 14th March 2016, RAF Brize Norton handed over a cheque for £750 for the fundraising efforts that took place in 2015.
For the last 10 years, Mrs Sharon Marchant, Chaplaincy Clerk at RAF Brize Norton, has been raising money for the MacMillan Cancer Support charity along with her Mum and a team of volunteers. Since 2005, Sharon and her fundraising team have raised over £11,476.61 through Station wide coffee mornings, tombola stalls and other Station events.
Sharon felt a personal connection with MacMillan when her Mum sadly passed away last year in 2015. MacMillan provided the vital support that Sharon needed and this experience has shown her just how much help and support they provide and how important they are.
On handing the cheque over to MacMillan Cancer Support, Sharon said
“Today has been an absolutely fantastic day. I feel very proud that we as a station can handover such a large amount of money to such a wonderful cause.”
On receiving the cheque, Steve Goodrick from MacMillan Cancer Support said:
“It has been been my absolute pleasure to come along and meet Sharon Marchant from the Brize Norton committee. The fundraising we’ve received from Sharon and her people has just been totally amazing.”
