Typhoon FGR4

RAF Flight Safety

The role of RAF Flight Safety is to make RAF flying activity as safe as possible by identifying hazards and trends, learning from incidents and accidents, and by sharing information that enables preventative safety measures to be implemented. RAF Flight Safety sits within the RAF Safety Centre which assures the RAF Safety Management System and enhances the delivery of operational capability.

The RAF Safety Centre has a role in contributing to the theory, investigation and prevention of errors and failures that could lead to an incident or accident as well as encouraging all personnel to ‘think safety’ and ultimately act safely. The RAF Flight Safety team is an integral part of that effort, focussing specifically on Air Safety matters whilst the RAF Safety Centre acts as a focal point for RAF safety engagement across Defence as well as providing the lead on safety interaction with UK and international aviation organizations.
