RAF Menwith Hill - Missile Defence Role
Missile Defence
On 25 July 2007, the UK Secretary of State for Defence announced that HM Government agreed had to a US request to use the DSP/SBIRS satellite communications facilities at RAF Menwith Hill to route data to the US missile defence system. This is in addition to its use in the existing US-UK missile warning mission.
RAF Menwith Hill’s primary mission to provide intelligence support for UK, US and allied interests, is not affected by this and remains unchanged.
