Participation in physical activity provides the foundation for individual well-being, underpinned by the statement: a ‘healthy mind in a healthy body’. The Royal Air Force Athletic Association encompasses track and field, cross-country, road running and tug-of-war, and reaches out to athletes, from novice to international standard, coaches, officials and all those who simply enjoy our sport.
I cannot overemphasise the importance that sport plays in our day to day lives. Participation in athletics develops individual self-discipline, concentration and determination as well as promoting fitness and health. The contribution this makes to operational fitness, to Force Development, and to the morale of our people is as vital today as it has always been.
