Sport has always been central to Royal Air Force culture as a means promoting physical and mental well-being, team building and morale. It engenders self-discipline and determination whilst keeping us fit and healthy. Even in times of continued high operational tempo, it is important that we continue make time for sport given the contribution it makes to operational fitness and Force Development.

The role of the Royal Air Force Athletic Association is to promote and enable participation across our Service. The Association encompasses track and field, cross-country, road, ultra, mountain/fell running and tug-of-war, and reaches out to athletes, from novice to international standard, coaches, officials and all those who simply enjoy our sport.
