The 2010 overseas visit had a slightly different flavour with a small band of Royal Air Force athletes joining their comrades from the Army and Royal Navy to travel to South Africa. These Combined Service Tours happen very infrequently and provide a valuable opportunity to get an insight into the other services as well as how other athletes train.

The group was accommodated in Stellenbosch, near Cape Town, conveniently placed right next door to excellent facilities used by a number of other sports groups right up to International standard. A fantastic time was had by all with activities such as a coaching clinic with local township children, cultural visits, social events, competitions, group lectures on sports performance and of course some training.
