Braemar Games 2010

You are cordially invited to compete at the Braemar Games in Scotland on the 4th of September. For those who have not experienced the Braemar event before there are 2 main events:

RAF Athletes in action The Medley Relay

The relay consists of the following legs: 200m/400m/400m/200m. All distances are approximate and on an 'interesting' grass track. Oh, and at times there will be approximately 10,000 spectators. There are heats and then a final, if we make it there, in front of the Queen. A unique experience! I can enter a number of teams so if you want to compete you can, no matter your standard!

RAF Athletes in the Morrone Hill Race The Morrone Hill race

This is a fell race that starts in the stadium and competitors make their way by whatever route they want to the top of a local hill. Then gravity is brought into play and they have to get back to the track ASAP.

These events are open to all, male and female, so if you're interested, please get in touch.

The Games can best be summed up as the world's biggest schools sports day in front of 10,000 people. You will have a fantastic time and it's a good way of blowing out those post summer season cob webs. Last years report is on the website if you want to learn more about the event.

Braemar Games 2009

RAF Athletes in Action To give you a feel for the commitment required, you would need to travel from Units by which ever method makes sense to arrive at RAF Leuchars by 1430 on Friday the 3rd of September, flights and rail were the preferred option last year. We will then move as a group to the race venue in Braemar and accommodation will be provided for the night including a Ceilih in the evening (still to be confirmed). After the race we will return to RAF Leuchars and then disperse on the Sunday morning back to units.

Please reply as soon as possible to get your name down for this unique event. It really is not one to be missed. Just send me a Query or get in touch via email.

Remember:-

  • If you have any questions please get in touch. You have 1 Team Manager, I have over 100 athletes!
  • If anyone on your Unit is interested in getting involved, they are more than welcome, just direct them to get in touch with myself or Jacqui Smith.

Talk to you all soon
