RAF Athletes Warming Up

What I got out of the Visit

Comments from a number of the athletes on what they got out of the visit:-

Excellent experience of warm weather training and a better feeling of ‘Team Spirit’.

I gained the ability to be more self sufficient in my training and can happily plan my own training sessions.

I have trained hard with everyone on the Visit at some point through the week and have learnt something to take back from every single person. From distance training sessions, hurdling technique, core work, how to actually run properly and of course how to pose on the track from the sprinters!

Top level coaching from Ruddy, new drills and exercises specific to my event that will make a real difference.

Structured coaching from Ruddy. I’ve learnt how to train properly so can now take this back. Rediscovered exercise after I lost the will.

Sore thumbs (from massaging!), tight hamstrings (from hurdling!) and sunburn (from the rest day!). Coupled with a real sense of achievement; I’ve met some great people and had a great time.

Coaching tips from Andy and Ruddy that I’ll take back with me to the UK and add into my training.

I introduced myself once again to some applied training following a period of prolonged injury and rehabilitation.

As a beginner I was introduced to the importance of technical training and the methods of obtaining event specific conditioning.

I learnt to walk like a crocodile, which sounds like fun, but I assure you it wasn’t!

A great opportunity to do some quality training with like minded individuals without the interruptions of work. A high quality training week with far more miles than usual.

Training with a great group of people with similar goals makes the world of difference!

Fun in the Sun, great environment for training without work interruptions.

To be able to train and focus on quality technical training without external stresses – work etc.

Introduced to more technical training methods which I can put into my training programme.

Top training tips from Ruddy and training with a great group of athletes. Managing to accomplish a room full of perplexed faces during the quiz and music rounds on Fancy Dress evening. The importance of rehabilitation and conditioning to help strengthen weak areas!
