Benson village has an excellent range of shops including a supermarket, butchers, greengrocers, vets, chemist, doctors, post office and beauty salon. There are two pubs in Benson village offering reasonably priced meals. The surrounding area has an excellent array of eateries including the famous Le Manior Aux Quat Saisons, (if your feeling a little flush!) whose head chef is Raymond Blanc. Other great restaurants in the area are The Goose at Britwell Salome, The Lord Nelson at Brightwell Baldwin and The leatherne Bottel at Goring on Thames. The Shepherd's Hut pub in Ewelme is within walking distance of the station and offers home cooked food in a welcoming atmosphere.
Wallingford has a good range of shops and is famous for the number of Antique shops. It also has a ruined medieval castle and a unique theatre/cinema.
Oxford, The City of Dreaming Spires, has many cultural attractions, including the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology. Oxford Castle is steeped in medieval history but if you prefer the theatre or comedy there is plenty of choice. Oxford also offers great shopping, restaurants, bars and cafés. The nearest Ice Rink is in Oxford, where you will also find a newly opened cinema and bowling multi complex and Gala Bingo. Oxford is about 12 miles from Benson.
Reading is another large town providing a huge selection of shops which can mainly be found in the Oracle shopping and entertainment complex. Reading also boasts easy access into London by train and road. Reading is approx 15 miles from Benson.
Henley is a fashionable town full restaurants and shops and is famous for the annual Regatta. It is approx 12 miles from Benson.
Within easy driving distance of Benson are the Cotswolds and Blenheim Palace.
The local area is exceptionally diverse and allows for a wide range of activities. The proximity to Oxford and Reading gives many opportunities for education, property and local jobs and there is a well connected public transport system in place in Oxfordshire.
