Basic Trade Training
Basic Trade Training (BTT)
Aerospace Systems Operators (ASOps) form an integral part of the UK Air Policing / Defence System. Using some of the most advanced radar and computer systems in the world, they perform vital roles in support of Air Battle Management both at home and in deployed theatres such as Afghanistan. Additionally, ASOps can be found employed in the Space Surveillance role or even working on the front line with the Army.
Our aim is to train Airmen in the various aspects required, leading to their mustering in the trade of 'Aerospace Systems Operator'.
RAF Boulmer is situated in the County of Northumberland, near the ancient market town of Alnwick. The Station is home to the ASACS Force Command, RAF Boulmer Control and Reporting Centre (CRC), The School of Aerospace Battle Management (SABM) and 202 Squadron Search and Rescue. The Station itself consists of two sites. The 'Main Site' is where the Station is run from and contains the administration, security and welfare assets. The 'Operations Site' is home to the CRC and SABM.
Trainees at RAF Boulmer are well catered for and the Station has extensive welfare facilities including a well equipped sports centre, sports hall, medical centre and social club (The Dukes). The local village of Longhoughton is a 10 minute walk from the main site and has a Post Office, SPAR Shop and Public House. The closest town is Alnwick which is approximately 4 miles away and is well served with supermarkets (Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Lidl), swimming pool and fitness centre plus other various local shops and social amenities.
