Community Learning Centre
The mission of the RAF Boulmer Community Learning Centre (CLC) is to promote, encourage, advise and guide regular RAF personnel to actively pursue self-improvement through lifelong learning.
Welcome to the Community Learning Centre (CLC). The CLC can offer advice and guidance on the many personal development opportunities that are available to personnel at RAF Boulmer. A brief description of some of the schemes available is detailed below together with directions to the CLC and the facilities on offer:
Location
The Community Learning Centre is located in the centre of the Married Quarters accommodation of Longhoughton village. It occupies the former St Oswald's Church and is open to all Stn personnal and members of the local community over the age of 18.
Opening Hours
The CLC opens from 0830 to 1630 Mon to Thur and from 0830 to 1600 on Fri.
Facilities
There are many excellent facilities on offer in the CLC for Service personnel, their families and members of the local community.
Information Technology Training Suite
12 internet connected PC's are available for tutor lead training, in courses such as ECDL and Advanced ECDL. These PC's are also available for individual learning as well as the4 additional internet connected PC’s located in the library area.

CD-ROMS in a wide range of subjects from Writing a Novel, the Solar System to Garden Design
Language media in many languages such as French, German, Arabic, Russian, Greek and Spanish.

Library
The CLC now houses a small fiction / non-fiction library, which is open to all Station personnel and Service dependants over 18 years of age. The Library is open during normal office hours Monday - Thursday (0830 -1630) and Friday (0830 - 1600). Access will be via a membership card, which is only available from the CLC staff. When applying for a membership card, identification must be produced. A current list of library books is displayed in section and mess notice boards.
The library includes books on the following subjects:
Art, Fiction, Hobbies, Music, Travel, Autobiography, Food & Drink, Humour, Sciences, Biography, Health, Languages, Poetry, Education, History, Management/Business, Sport, House and Home, Large Print, Parenting, Reference and Local interest.
Computer Club
Anyone interested in joining the CLC Computer Club can do so for as little as £10 for 6 months. This will include access to a PC, colour printer and scanner and the use of various interest CD-ROMS. The Club runs on a Mon (1300-1600), Thurs (0930-1400) and Fri (0930-1430).
Condensed IGCSE Courses
RAF Uxbridge and RAF Cottesmore run five and nine day intensive A/S and IGCSE courses throughout the year. The courses range from Mathematics to Economics, Commerce, English Language, Business Studies, Physics, History and Human Biology. Learners have the option of sitting their exams in the CLC at RAF Boulmer.
Management NVQ
Any Non-Commissioned Officer who is currently undertaking the Management NVQ with Lincoln College and wishes an appointment with the NVQ assessor or is interested in gaining a Management NVQ should contact the CLC for further details.
Resettlement
The Resettlement and Life Long Learning Co-ordinator is the focal point on station for all resettlement matters. All service personnel, regardless of their stage of career have access to the resettlement system. The CLC information room contains reference material on training, job finding and employment on leaving the forces. Service leavers normally start their resettlement process 2 years from their exit date. At this point they attend a briefing given by the Regional Resettlement Advisor who visits RAF Boulmer twice every month.
RAF Boulmer hosts 2 Career Transition Workshops (CTW) every year. This is a course for all Service Leavers who have at least 5 years service. Topics covered on the course include CV building, job finding, interview techniques and an interview with an employment consultant.
Initial resettlement briefs with the Regional Resettlement Advisor should be booked through the RLLC.
All Service personnel, regardless of the stage of their career have access to the resettlement services provided by the RAF.
