Management Support Squadron
The role of the Management Support Squadron (MSS) is the efficient planning, management, co-ordination and delivery of Facilities Management and Infrastructures Services, Catering Services, Supply and MT for both RAF Boulmer and the wider ASACS Force in order to enable effective operational delivery for the Force.
Management Support Squadron is a diverse Squadron that provides support to all areas at RAF Boulmer and more widely across the UK. Officer Commanding MSS is responsible for the delivery of 5 core roles across the Logistics and Facilities Management arenas:
Infrastructure: Site estates management is predominantly facilitated through the on-site Defence Infrastructure Organisation and the Regional Prime Contractor, Carillion-Amey, ensuring that the infrastructure within RAF Boulmer is fit for purpose. This also includes requirement setting and planning for all ASACS infrastructure nationwide.
Mechanical Transport (MT) Flight: MT provides and manages the diverse fleet of vehicles required for the day to day running of the Unit and also the mechanics and fitters who maintain and service the MoD owned assets.
Supply: Supply are the contracted specialists SERCO, and are responsible for the logistical support provided to the Station, e.g. supply accounting, receipt and demand functions, armoury support, ground mechanical and electrical engineering, etc.
Catering: Catering and stewarding is provisioned through the Catering Retail and Leisure contract, facilitated by a partnership with ISS, and delivered by a team of ISS staff and RAF chefs.
Relationship Management: Contract requirement setting and monitoring is the responsibility of this team who act on behalf of the Head of Establishment for the output of the Multi Activity Contract supplied by SERCO and SODEXO.
