After a demonstration, the enthusiastic Year 7 children were ready to design their team rockets, taking into consideration materials, costing and aerodynamics. At the end of the lesson the class were taken outside to launch all the rockets and, to their delight, all successfully took off, achieving impressive heights.

Mrs Morrison, a teacher from Carterton Community College, said, “STEM visits are really important as we allow students to see where science, technology, engineering and maths fits into real life situations. Today they were able to have the excitement of building rockets and seeing they were able to be scientists and engineers even though they are only 11 years old. The project was very successful and it was great seeing the smiles on the students’ faces.”
