On Tuesday 16th November 2010 the Royal Air Force took delivery of its seventh C-17 Globemaster III during a ceremony at Boeing's final assembly facility in Long Beach, California. Present at the Ceremony were, Peter Luff MP Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, Air Marshal Kevin Leeson Chief of Materiel (Air) in Defence Equipment and Support and Wing Commander David Manning Officer Commanding Number 99 Squadron. Wing Commander Manning was accompanied by one of his crews to fly ZZ177 (UK7) to the Boeing facility in San Antonio, Texas for operational modifications. UK7 will return to the UK in early January to join the UK C-17 fleet flying operational sorties into Afghanistan.
