Station Community Support Officer (SCSO)
On 3 Mar 08, WO Yvonne Conway took up the appointment as the Station Community Support Officer (SCSO) at RAF Brize Norton. This new appointment has been established to deal with the provision of ‘front line’ welfare and community support to Service personnel and their families. Working confidentially with many of the personnel support agencies with whom we refer, she will form an integral part of the team which includes; Personnel Management Staff, Community Support & Welfare staffs, SSAFA, the HIVE Information Officer and the Community Development Worker, not to mention the numerous external agencies such as the CAB, Relate and local Solicitors. Additionally, WO Conway can act as an interface with both Defence Estates and Modern Housing Solutions when it is felt that third party assistance might be of benefit.
WO Conway served for the Director General Medical Services (RAF) as a Medical Administrator for 24 years and has an extensive and varied working background. These include; tours in instructional posts both at Keogh Barracks and the Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at RAF Lyneham and as the Senior Controller in the Aeromedical Evacuation Control Centre at RAF Brize Norton. She has also been employed in Primary Health Care on a number of RAF stations. WO Conway lives locally in Carterton with her partner and 9 year old daughter.
The SCSO may be found in the Arena Building (539) collocated with the new Brize Norton SuperHIVE and the OASIS Café and can be contacted on ext 5350. WO Conway has a wealth of experience and is a dedicated and committed member of the Station Community Support and Welfare Team and will be happy to offer advice and guidance or to assist with any welfare issues that you may be encountering.
