17 (Reserve) Squadron

17(Reserve) Sqn Badge The Squadron was reformed as a Reserve Squadron on 1st September 2002 at BAE Systems, Warton, and re-equipped with the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. The Squadron's new role is as an Operational Evaluation Unit tasked with introducing the Typhoon aircraft into service with the Royal Air Force. 1 April 2005 saw the Squadron relocate to its permanent home at RAF Coningsby, an event which was marked by the arrival of the squadron commander in the first single-seat aircraft for the RAF.
