Station Committees

STATION COMMITTEES

The Stn committees provide a means for you to express your views and opinions. YOU have the opportunity to bring to notice, through your representatives, suggestions for improvements in Station facilities, problems with existing facilities and constructive suggestions for overcoming these problems. Do not just complain to yourself and your friends – do something to help improve your comfort and well being by making your representative work for his place on the relevant committee!

The Services Institute Fund

The Service Institute Fund is a corporate body, established to provide welfare and amenities for all personnel, (RAF, Army and Navy) who hold the rank of corporal and below. It controls and administers the Service Institute Fund which is the Station fund that finances recreational activities and a number of welfare issues. The Committee comprises of representatives from squadrons on the Unit. The Committee meets under the Chairmanship of the President of the Service Institute (PSI) with the OC GD as Secretary. The Committee holds meetings on a regular basis to approve projects and funding of special entertainment. There is an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at which members are given the opportunity to suggest suitable projects for expenditure.

The Station Messing Committee

This Committee meets quarterly under the chairmanship of OC Catering Flight. Each Flight is represented on the Committee by a ‘living in’ airman not above the rank of Corporal. The Catering Officer and SNCO IC Airman’s Mess also attend all Committee meetings. The Committee discuss and recommend to the Station Commander ways and means of improving the standards of food and the manner in which it is presented, and receives and considers suggestions. The Committee also considers and decides what should be done to improve the appearance of the dining rooms and surrounds of the mess. The minutes of each meeting are circulated for posting on notice boards in all Flights and Sections. A messing suggestions book is available in the JRM Mangers Office for use by all members of the Mess.

Charity Committee

The Charities Committee meets on a bi-annual basis with the OC GD as Secretary. The committee comprises of representatives from all sections of the Unit and meets to consider bids from local and national charities who have requested donations.
