Refuse Collection and Disposal

Wheelie bins are emptied every Tuesday.

All SFA have three wheelie bins, green lidded bin for recycling i.e., newspaper, cardboard, magazines, cereal boxes etc, brown bin for green waste i.e., grass cuttings and weeds and a black bin for domestic waste i.e., all waste that cannot be recycled.

Bulky items e.g., fridges, cookers, scrap furniture etc may be removed by the Local Council on receipt of individual requests from householders, telephone NKDC 01529 414155.

Upkeep of Gardens

MHS Grounds Maintenance Contractors are responsible for the maintenance of open plan lawns and gardens to the front of all SFA. Occupants of SFA may cultivate flowerbeds adjacent to the walls at the front of the property, but this apart, the lawns must be left clear so that mowing is not impeded. In particular, bushes and shrubs are not to be planted when they might hide small children running towards the road from view of passing drivers.

Occupants are responsible for maintaining the rear gardens, the proportions of approx. two-thirds grassed area and one-third cultivated area are not to be altered.

In short, MHS does its best to keep the SFA sites well cared for and attractive, they can do this far more effectively if you contribute by following these few requirements.

Keeping of Animals

Occupants of SFA are reminded that they must gain the authority to keep pets through the local Housing Officer or from the HIC. There are limits to how many pets one can have in their SFA, two roving animals only, that is, two dogs or two cats or one of each. Caged animals do not enter the equation i.e., hamsters etc. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times in the domestic area of the Station unless been exercised in the back garden. Owners of cats and/or dogs are to ensure that their animals do not create a nuisance such as persistent barking or fouling on others property. Contravention of these rules may result in permission to keep pets being withdrawn.

Pest Control

Occupants should contact MHS on all matters relating to pest control i.e., mice, wasps etc.
