Horses jumping

Sandhurst Show 08

SANDHURST SHOW 24th MAY 08

(Report by SAC Stoner- Team Captain)

The competitions were run as individual competitions. These incorporated two show jumping classes and two eventer trial classes. The eventer trial format is not seen very often and incorporates both natural and coloured fences. This can be a challenge for horses that normally show jump as they do not often come across these type of fences!

The classes were run in two separate rings just across from each other on the lawns in front of the Sandhurst Acadamy. The surface was fantastic to jump on and there were quite alot of competitor. All of the horses jumped really well! The only thing that upset them was when the Army Officer recruits started doing drill on the parade square next to the lawns! Something they dont see everyday. Alot of the horses got upset and started spooking and snorting at them especially when they started shouting drill commands. I thought I had a little stallion on my hands the way he was prancing and snorting. He couldnt take his eyes off them the whole time. This may have spoilt a few of the competitors rounds which was a bit of a shame but its all good experience for them! Refreshments and soup were kindly provided by Flt Lt McDonnell’s parents, the sandwiches were extra good! Congratulations to everyone!

Flt Lt McDonnell on Max
