Each individual Club will run its own events through a year. This page is designed to give a brief overview on what has been passed for RAFFCA wide publicity, and also as an invite for all RAFFCA members to take part in. Usual rules apply: send your event details to our Webmaster, Promotions and Publicity Member, Flt Lt Chris Edmondson.

RAF Cranwell Flying Club

  • Sunday 19th August 2012 - The Annual RAF Cranwell Flying Club “Fly In & Families Day” is to take place on Sunday 19th August 2012. The event is open to all club member’s families, their friends, Station personnel and their dependants.
  • The purpose of the event is as always is 3-fold; it serves to: open RAF Cranwell Flying Club to other RAFFCA Clubs; further develop relations with the local GA community, through camaraderie; and give families and friends of club members and Cranwell -based personnel and their families the opportunity to be introduced to flying, whilst enjoying a day of entertainments. The event will also raise money for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance

We have been very fortunate in past events to have a very good attendance of aircraft and graced by some excellent displays. This year will be prove no exception, the event will involve the arrival at Cranwell of up to 80 light aircraft. There will be a diverse programme of entertainments on the day for all, to include a Flying Display. The event also has a focus on charity; last year we raised over £500 for the Lincs Air Ambulance.

Trial first lessons flights in club aircraft will be available as usual, as well as Firefly trips for those wishing to have a taste of aerobatics. Details of booking these flights will be published at a later date

The Fly In is run on a family-oriented basis and gives people the chance to get a little more ‘close and personal’ compared to the larger corporate events. So please come along and support your club, whilst enjoying a pleasant and relaxed Sunday afternoon on the ground, or a more exciting experience in one of our aircraft

Further updates on the event will be forwarded/published as necessary.

    Kind regards

    Ken Baker
